Back Forty Landscapes launched in 2026, but the experience behind it goes back over 15 years right here in East Tennessee. We're new to the market — not to the trade. Our team has spent more than a decade and a half working across every facet of the landscape industry in Knoxville TN, the Smoky Mountains, and the surrounding region before stepping out on our own.
The name "Back Forty" comes from a farming expression for the furthest acreage on a property — the land that takes the most effort to reach and work. It's a reminder that the best results come from going the extra mile.
We started this business because we believe clients deserve better: better communication, better craftsmanship, and a team that genuinely invests in the outcome. That's what we're here to deliver.

Instead of fighting East Tennessee's existing conditions, we design with them. Smoky Mountain native plants — mountain laurel, native azaleas, Eastern redbud, wild columbine — proper drainage, and soil health come first. Nature knows best, and we listen.
